MUSIC

Mission: The mission of the music ministry of Shady Grove Baptist Church is to glorify the Father and to edify, encourage and educate the saints through music.

We believe that God has uniquely blessed us with many talented individuals to help carry out that mission. We plan to continue to grow stronger in our worship by doing the following things:

Worshipping and praising God through music.
Developing a growing music education program to bless future generations.
Growing spiritually by being involved in all aspects of the church.
Ministering in our community through special projects.

We currently have or are developing the following ministries:
1. Worship Choir – for those who are interested in helping lead the worship and in praising God through music. Number one qualification, a desire to ‘make a joyful noise’ to our God.
a. Meeting times:
i. Sunday, 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall to prepare for the 10:45 worship service
ii. Sunday, 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary to join together for rehearsal of worship services, special programs and prayer. (A nursery is provided)
b. Ages: Anyone from high-school age on up is invited and encouraged to join us.
2. Solos, Duets, and more – we encourage our members to share their talent through special music and offertories.
3. Special Programs – If you don’t feel ‘up’ to singing with the Worship Choir every Sunday, but would like to participate in special programs, such as Christmas or Resurrection Sunday presentations, you are welcome to join us for the first part of our Sunday evening rehearsals, when we will be looking at this music, then feel free to leave as the choir works on music for Sunday mornings. Within the next few weeks, we will begin working on a patriotic musical to be presented on Sunday, July 1st.
4. Fifth Sunday Sing – Every month with five Sundays brings a special time of celebration as the normal evening services are suspended and we have a night of special music! Pick up your favorite instrument or sound track and share the talent God has given you with all of us.
